How business days are counted
Between Dates includes the start date and excludes the end date by default. Open Advanced settings when the end date should count too.
Add or Subtract starts moving on the day after or before the starting date. The starting date is an anchor and never uses one of the requested business days.
A date is excluded once. A non-working weekday takes priority, followed by a selected public holiday and then a custom non-working date.
Holiday coverage
Optional public-holiday calendars cover 2024 through 2030 for the United States, Germany, England and Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia.
Holiday calendars use general published rules. Employer schedules, local observances, religious leave, and one-off official decisions can differ.
Dates, workweeks, custom exclusions, and results stay in your browser and are not included in analytics.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the Business Days Calculator include the end date?
- The start date is included and the end date is excluded by default. Open Advanced settings and select Include end date for inclusive counting.
- Which days count as working days?
- Monday through Friday count by default. Advanced settings lets you select any working week from Sunday through Saturday.
- Can the calculator exclude public holidays?
- Yes. Choose a supported holiday calendar. Verified public-holiday data covers 2024 through 2030, and the result warns when dates fall outside that range.
- Can I add company days off?
- Yes. Add custom non-working dates in Advanced settings. They remain in the current browser page only and are not saved.
- Why can business-day calculators return different answers?
- Calculators may use different end-date rules, workweeks, public-holiday regions, and employer-specific days off. Calctiva shows the rules used with each result.
- Does Calctiva store the dates I enter?
- No. The calculation runs in your browser, and calculator inputs and results are not sent to Calctiva or included in analytics.
