How age is calculated
Calctiva counts completed calendar years first, completed months next, and the remaining days last. It uses real month lengths and leap years rather than an average number of days per year.
Totals such as days and weeks are calculated separately from the same date range. This is why an exact calendar age and a total-day count answer different versions of the question.

- Exact age is the number of completed calendar years, completed months after those years, and remaining days between the date of birth and calculation date.
- Can I calculate age on a different date?
- Yes. Select Custom date and enter the date on which you want to calculate age.
- How are February 29 birthdays handled?
- March 1 is used by default in non-leap years. You can choose February 28 in Advanced settings, and the same choice applies to completed age and the next birthday.
- Why can age calculators show different results?
- Some calculators use different February 29 conventions or approximate months and years. Calctiva uses real calendar dates and shows its leap-day setting.
- Does Calctiva store my date of birth?
- No. The Age Calculator runs in your browser, and the dates you enter are not sent to Calctiva or included in analytics.
